I cooked again!

Well, blame it on the blizzard (or just the fact that it is such a freakin' pain to get in and out of our road)  I have done it again....another home cooked meal.  Now there is nothing remotely healthy or Weight Watcher's approved in this dinner, but it was really good!

Pork Tenderloin (fried, of course)

Home made potato chips (fried, again)

And biscuits (with lots of butter)

We did have corn also, but not nearly as delicious looking as the above!

And of course cake for dessert!!

More snow pics

Borrowed some better pictures of our road (Arden-Nollville) from our neighbors

Looking south down Arden-Nollville...the road is totally drifted over for as far as you can see!

Saw a few plows/graders come by late this evening....maybe we will dug out by March!

Friends

We actually were able to get out tonight and got some food that I didn't have to cook!  The main road had drifted over with snow last night and today there were 6-8 ft high drifts on either side.  I took a picture out the car window with my phone

This was the view from my car window.  The road is only about one car width wide so your out of luck if someone is coming the other way, but we just had to get out today!  I really can't believe how much snow has blown across our road.   The rest of the roads were pretty good.  I don't know if it will be back to normal until spring!

Our neighbor Kayla came by today and babysit for a few hours while I worked at the office for a bit.  The girls get really silly when they get together!

Conner was so outnumbered 4 to 1 by the girls today so he got prepared early with his Nerf gun!

Too late

I've been following Dayna's I Heart Faces  entries and thought I'd take a stab at it.  So I set up a photo shoot with Baylee and got the perfect picture.  The theme was "I heart kisses"  After a few tries I got the perfect shot. Then went to the I Heart Faces website to figure out how to link it up only to realize I am a day late. (story of my life)   Oh well, maybe I'll make the deadline next week, but here's the pic I was gonna enter

Oh and we are having a blizzard today.
Literally I've gotten 12 texts from weather.com that Martinsburg in under a blizzard warning.  The wind is blowing so hard and sometimes I can't even see the shop from my kitchen window.  This winter has been brutal!

I barely got my car out of the garage on Monday and Tuesday. I can only imagine how fun it will be to get it out now.

And this is what I have been dealing with all week.  They can't stop fighting!
A friend mentioned the we should take a "mental health" day when the kids go back to school. I am thinking that's a great idea because after being with the kids all week long my mental health is definitely in question.

Random

Just a random picture today of the wreath hanging from my kitchen window.

Go check out the picture Dayna took of Kaycee today.  It is so beautiful!

Supposed to get 8-12 more inches of snow tonight.  It's getting really old!

The kids are off school for the rest of the week and next Monday for an IS day.
I don't know if I can last that long!

Semi Homemade Doughnuts

Saw this post by Pioneer Woman Cooks  on making homemade doughnuts and I started reminiscing about making doughnuts with my mom.  So I decided that while waiting on the 8-12 more inches of snow to arrive tomorrow we would make homemade doughnuts.  So I printed out the recipe, made my list and treked out to the grocery store to get the essential items.  All the while I am envisioning the perfectly round glazed doughnuts to be devoured later.   In typical Deanna fashion (not reading the entire recipe) I dug in and began the process.  (by the way, try explaining how yeast works to a 9 year old when you don't really understand it yourself!)  Kaycee and Baylee were so excited until I read the part where you have to let the dough sit in the refridgertor over night.   Talk about a let down.  The girls were so bummed out that we couldn't eat doughnuts right away.  Then I remembered I had two containers of cresent rolls in the fridge.  So we rolled the cresent rolls out and cut them into doughnut shapes and fried them up

Turns out the cresent rolls are a pretty good substitute!

The glaze was just amazing!  (and so easy!)

The girls certainly enjoyed them

In the end- a win/win situation...we get to eat semi-homemade doughnuts tonight AND make some real homemade doughnuts in the morning.
 Anytime there's doughnuts in a day.....it's a good day!
